TrakM8 is an in-car tracking system that provides a partnership between you and your car using your mobile phone. This allows you to track and monitor your car wherever you are. It has many features such as vehicle security, satellite tracking, navigation and vehicle monitoring. It was recently featured in a BBC article showing it's vehicle monitoring and security usefulness.
TrakM8 works on all mobile networks with a pay-as-you-go SIM - so there are no ongoing running costs or contract charges except for SMS text messages. Please note that a SIM card is not supplied with the unit, but these are widely available for the five major providers - Orange, Vodaphone, BT Cellnet, One2One and Virgin - from retailers nationwide.
Connect your TrakM8 to your laptop PC or PDA running Microsoft Autoroute™ or InfoMap™ mapping software and you can plot and follow the exact location of your car on street level mapping in real time!. Use TrakM8 as your mobile office for email, surfing the Internet and instant messaging. FEATURES FOR THE HOME USER:
TrakM8 provides peace of mind to parents of young drivers by providing real-time information on how and where they are driving. Some of TrakM8's recreational features include reporting of the fastest 0-60 acceleration time, the best round trip and maximum speed attained. A speed camera gazetteer upgrade will be available as an upgrade.
Where are you?
Phone your TrakM8 and hang-up (RingPing) or send Where command using SMS and your TrakM8 will send you an SMS back telling you exactly where it is, what direction it is moving in and how fast it is going.
Tells you if your car is being abused:
It will report to the parents if the car is exceeding a specified limit or is being driven harder than they would prefer. A concerned parent can retrieve their cars position at any time; they can set invisible fences to ensure their car is not driven into restricted areas or driven out of a selected area.
Tells you if your car is speeding:
If you choose, your TrakM8 will send you an SMS every time your car exceeds the speed limit that you define.
Report maximum speed attained:
When this option is enabled your TrakM8 will send you an SMS once every period telling you the maximum speed attained during the previous period. You can set the period from 1 minute to 24 hours.
Are you nearly there?
TrakM8 can be setup to send a SMS text message to any mobile phone that you specify when your vehicle comes within a mile (configurable) of a town, city or location within the built-in 2000+ place gazateer. You may want the person you are visiting to be notified that you will arrive soon so that they can welcome you with a cup of tea!
Report fastest 0 - 62 acceleration time:
If you enable this feature, every time you attain a better 0-62 time TrakM8 will tell you via SMS. 0-62 is the default but is user configurable eg. 0-53 or 0-68. TrakM8 can also report the best time attained during the previous period. You can set the period from 1 minute to 24 hours.
Report best round trip details:
You can set your current position as a marker, every time you return to the same marker TrakM8 will report via SMS the round trip time taken together with maximum speed that was attained during the trip. FEATURES FOR THE BUSINESS USER:
Automatic journey reports:
If you choose, your TrakM8 will automatically send you an SMS after the end of each journey. The message is abbreviated to so as to fit as much information as possible into a single SMS. Breaking these details down:
TR51 IPL - This is the user assigned name for the TrakM8 up to 13 characters, car reg number or whatever you like!

RINGWOOD - Town name / location looked up from built- in gazetteer of over 2000 place names. Content depends upon country of purchase.
22:40 051101 - Journey start time and date. Time and date generated by built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) receiver is highly accurate and can’t be tampered with.
E:1.1 mls SW of FROME 00:02 061101 - Journey end information in same format as journey start.
T:1:21 - Duration of journey - 1 hour 21 minutes.
D:50.5 mls - Distance covered during journey -50.5 miles.
S:70 mph - Maximum speed attained during journey.
I:0:01 - Idle time - 1 minute, time spent in journey not moving eg. at traffic lights or in a traffic jam.
In-car Internet access:
TrakM8 has a built-in GSM data modem and has a serial connection that allows a laptop PC or PDA to connect to your Internet service provider for web surfing or emails. This feature requires a data enabled SIM and will not work with pay-as-you-go.

Invisible 'security shield':
When enabled every time you park your car TrakM8 puts up an invisible 100 metre radius 'security shield' around its location. When the car moves outside of this 'shield' TrakM8 alerts you by SMS. Your car might be being stolen or towed away - you know about it before they get away! People may ignore car alarm sirens, but you won't ignore your TrakM8!
Has your car left it's permitted area?
You can set your TrakM8 to send an SMS to a mobile number that you specify when your car strays more that a set number of miles from a town, city or location contained within the built-in 2000+ place gazetteer. You may choose to restrict the person to whom you have lent your car to a certain radius of your home town. TrakM8 will tell you if they go too far!
Curfew your car or van:
You may wish to restrict the use of your car or van to certain times of the day / week. TrakM8 can be set to send an SMS if the vehicle is used outside the permitted hours that you define. An output line is also set on the TrakM8 unit during the curfew times. This can be wired to an immobiliser (not included) to provide a physical restriction on the car or van.
Tells you if your car alarm is sounding:
Your TrakM8 has 5 inputs (when using the professional wiring loom) that can be wired to your car. You may for example wire one input to your car alarm. Whenever this input is triggered your TrakM8 will send an SMS advising you. Other inputs are Ignition, Doors and two general purpose.
'Blackbox flight recorder':
Your TrakM8 logs every second of your journey into its memory. Information stored includes date, time, GPS position, speed and direction of travel. TrakM8 always retains at least the last 100 minutes of this information. Should you ever have an accident, we have a service (chargeable) that will produce a comprehensive report and map showing full details of the use of the car prior to the accident occurring. Includes:
