Description:
The GPSMAP 76S features a built-in quad helix antenna for superior reception and also offers a built-in electronic compass, barometric altimeter, 24MB of internal memory and 5000 track points. Unlike a traditional GPS, which requires movement to show a heading, the built-in electronic compass will give a heading while the user is standing still. The barometric altimeter provides extremely accurate elevation and pressure information, which can assist in identifying weather trends and best fishing opportunities. The 24MB of internal user memory can be used for storing optional MapSource™ detailed maps, including BlueChart™ marine cartography. This memory is preloaded with worldwide cities (populations greater than 200,000) and nautical navigation aids such as lights and buoys. An extra-large display measuring 1.6"W x 2.2"H gives users a clear view of information, while a waterproof case means the GPSMAP 76S will keep working well even if it's been submerged in water. Even more amazing, this unit will actually float if dropped in the water.
